How can you create a simple and seamless payment experience for your customers?

During the Amadeus Digital Conference in Madrid (4-5 June), airlines from around the globe discovered a number of key insights on the future of travel.



The shift in the way customers search, buy and pay in the travel industry, coupled with technological innovation, is challenging airlines to evolve the traditional and reinvent the payment experience.

And we've noticed a remarkable interest raised from all types of airlines in different payments topics varying from payment acceptance all the way to bank settlement reconciliation services.

During the plenary session we revealed some of the areas of innovation within the airline industry and how Amadeus is ready to play an active role in helping airlines manage their payments strategy. Three topics were highlighted:

  • Fraud Management: airlines need a travel customized fraud solution. The challenge consists of selling more by rejecting fewer transactions, while still keeping fraud levels low.  It’s all about finding the right balance.
  • Alternative Methods of Payments (AMOP): helping our customers increase their sales conversion by expanding their payment acceptance reach. AMOPs are expected to experience a 50% of growth between 2012 and 2015 (Worldpay, Alternative Payment Report, 2013).
  • Dynamic Currency Conversion: shifting the revenue from the bank to the airline, while improving customer experience. Amadeus have recently joined forces with Continuum and RBS to launch a first-class multi-currency payment solution entirely customized for the airline industry. A large number of customers approached our Travel Payments booth to find out how they could streamline their payment processes and reduce their operational costs, while keeping up with market trends.
