To wrap up our picks – here are our last five great travel innovations that have truly been game changers.


Theautomobileconnected humanity in ways the horse and carriage never could. Plus, they ride a whole lot smoother. Imagine taking a few days to travel a distance we can now cover in a few hours by car and be very thankful for this innovation.

Steam engine

Without the steam engine there would have been noindustrial revolutionand no comfy modern amenities we now take for granted. The steam engine powered the economic boom of the late 19th century and set us up for a pretty easy way of life.

Bio-metric identification

Concerns about big brother or not – bio-metrics are set to revolutionise and streamline the travel experience. Not so far in the future we’ll be able to breeze through the airport without ever having to pause.

Online check-in

Alaska Airlineswas the first to save its passengers from suffering back in 1999. Luckily, the rest of world’s airlines followed the example. Online check-in now gives us an opportunity to sit back and enjoy the airport experience while our less technically inclined counterparts toil in line.
