As online travel evolves, we’re ready for the power shift to consumers

These days, it’s rare to book a trip without going online at some stage of the process. And that trend is set to continue, as by 2020, online will become the dominant channel for purchasing travel across the world. Travelers are also more empowered and demanding than ever before. They want choice, transparency in pricing and personalization.

Technology is the main driver behind this change, as new ways of working and connecting are opening up a world of possibilities for travelers and the brands that serve them. 

We’re ready for this power shift and I’m excited to be leading this initiative on behalf of Amadeus as we evolve to better serve our online customers so they can better serve travelers.

We work with online travel players around the world to help them achieve their goals – from online travel agencies and travel media players to travel startups who are looking for the next big thing. In today's fast-paced digital environment, online players are facing pressure from multiple fronts – from travelers, to suppliers, to new players – so they need to reinvent themselves relentlessly.

Delivering the right offer to the right traveler at the right time is crucial, and Amadeus is working with online retailers to boost both traffic acquisition and conversion, fully supporting their journey to growth. At the same time we allow airlines, ground transportation providers, hotels and other services to distribute their content to a global network of diverse travel sellers. We’ve created a Live Travel Space where travel buyers and sellers can connect and collaborate so that travelers can shop and book the trips they want. This is our mission.

We have a clear strategy and value proposition to serve online retailers with responsive and agile solutions.  This means a myriad of content, including full service carriers and low cost carriers, available through the Amadeus Travel Platform. It also means continuing to enrich our search solutions with exciting new developments.

We have a fantastic team in place entirely dedicated to online travel players to help them respond to a constantly shifting environment, adapt their business models, better monetize, convert and deliver unique experiences to travelers.

I joined Amadeus only recently, but I was quick to see how truly amazing Amadeus’ work has been in the online space since the heady early days of the dot.coms. We have played a key role in transforming the travel industry (in airline.com, metasearch and with online travel agencies) and enabled e-commerce in a very significant way. As these players and future players continue to transform how travelers plan and experience travel anywhere, we want to be right there with them, helping them every step of the way.

With Amadeus, online travel companies deliver the trips their travelers expect and, with our technology and expertise, add value to their business.
