We’re creating a more connected travel industry, underpinned by sustainability and long-term investor relations.
Director of Communication, Institutional Relations and CSR, Iberia
Our involvement in social issues is as long as our history. We’ve never overlooked our commitment to society and we continue to collaborate actively in numerous social and solidarity projects.
One such project that is worthy of special mention is our partnership with Amadeus and UNICEF. So far, Iberia customers have donated more than €500,000 to support UNICEF’s vaccination programme in Chad where more than 850,000 babies from newborns to 11 months were vaccinated against tuberculosis, measles or polio and 10,000 vaccinators were trained.
For us, this partnership with Amadeus, who developed the donation engine that made it possible, is very valuable, since it enables our customers to join together for a common cause. It means going beyond the usual business-customer relationship in order to work on a joint project that is different from our usual activity. Several factors have contributed to the success of this partnership, including the ease of making a donation, the fact that donations go directly to UNICEF, and the hundreds of thousands of customers that access Iberia.com worldwide.
As the first airline to join this project in 2013, we’re proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish so far, but there’s still more the industry as a whole can contribute. Through the ‘Click for Change ’ campaign, promoted by Amadeus and UNICEF, we can reach travel providers and travellers across the globe and unite them around the cause of creating a better future for the world’s most vulnerable children.
The travel industry has both the scale and reach to make a huge impact, so I encourage other travel providers to take advantage of this opportunity to make a real difference.
