Almost ten years ago, after almost a hundred trips to Bali, my now-wife Lani created a PDF document she put together to showcase the best things to do and see in Bali.
She simply wanted friends and family to be able to see, and experience the Bali she loved and knew. This simple idea became The Bali Bible.
Now, almost a decade on, that idea has grown into the innovative travel platform, TRAVLR, which is poised to expand throughout the Asia Pacific region thanks to our participation in the Amadeus for Startups program.
TRAVLR is built around enhancing each of the five stages of the travellers’ journey – Dream, Plan, Book, Experience and Share. After listening to our users for many years, we knew they wanted a singular platform that operated across the entire travel experience. TRAVLR provides users daily escapism, inspiration and recommendations from real people – themselves previously travellers – and then allows customers to build a bespoke trip itinerary and book their travel, all through one single site. While our travelers are away, enjoying the beautiful places in this world, or when they return from their trip, travellers can share their experiences through the TRAVLR site. This simple mechanism creates rich content that is authentic and supports our model for creating a real community of highly engaged and invested travellers – and it’s this model that is setting TRAVLR up for exciting future success.
Amadeus’ technology provided us with access to more than 450 airlines and 3.1 million shopping options covering 740,000 unique properties. This has given us the breadth and depth of choice that supports the creation and personalised recommendations for our customers. Plus, being one of the first APAC startups to join the program helped us secured access to resources, mentorship, and introductions to influential people and organisations that I never imagined we’d meet. It truly has been a critical aspect of our growth and success so far.
We wanted to create the ultimate travel platform - one that connects people and unlocks the best travel experiences whether you’re a first-timer, seasoned traveler, solo adventurer or a family travelling together. As we launch in New Zealand this year, and Indonesia, Fiji, the Pacific Islands, Sri Lanka, and Australia next year, we’re confident we have the right partner in Amadeus to bring our vision to life.
