Celebrating 25 years: Q&A with the pioneers of Amadeus Asia

Editor’s Note: As we celebrate our 25th

In this case – we’re recognizing three employees who have been a part of Amadeus Asia in Bangkok, Thailand since its inception in February 1996 when the office consisted of less than a dozen staff members (current there are nearly 400!). Amadeus Asia supports the regional Amadeus offices in Asia Pacific and these original staff members have been integral in establishing Amadeus as a leader in the region. Phusit Kulsena (Manager, Regional Technical Services, Amadeus Asia) How long have you been with Amadeus?

I have been here for 15 years 9 months and 19 days.

How has Amadeus changed since you’ve been here?

The office has been moved 3 times with more than 10 renovations to the work areas. Also, the number of staff has increased from 4 to more than 400 now. The business is definitely growing as more airlines join the Altea community.

What accomplishments at Amadeus are you most proud of?

Whenever I receive positive feedback from customers – I feel very proud in knowing that I was a part of that.

What advice do you have for someone who’s just joining Amadeus?

Understand the company’s goals, adapt your objectives to achieving these goals, and always do the best you can to achieve excellent results.

Pichai Uckaradejdumrong (Manager, Reservation & Fare Data, Amadeus Asia) How long have you been with Amadeus?

Over 16 years now.

How has Amadeus changed since you've been here)?

16 years ago there were only 5-6 colleagues and the level of intimacy was quite high. Now, there are so many people that it’s hard to know everyone!

What are the greatest challenges you’ve overcome while at Amadeus?

My own patience, I guess.

What advice do you have for someone who’s just joining Amadeus?

Be honest to yourself.  Work hard. Take responsibility. No boot-licking!

Benyapa Dettanaton (Manager, Administrative and Travel, Amadeus Asia) How long have you been with Amadeus? 

Since February 1996.

What accomplishments at Amadeus are you most proud of?

I was the one who did a lot of tasks like HR functions, recruitment, opening staff and company accounts, admin duties, purchasing (office stationery, office supply, office automation), finance, and was the secretary to the GM. Also, being responsible for staff contracts, employee manuals, and the pension fund.

What are the greatest challenges you’ve overcome while at Amadeus?

Changing from Admin to Office Manager.

What memory do you cherish the most?

All activities, all kinds of work I undertook in the past with all colleagues. Of course there were some disagreements, some difference of opinions but finally we were still friends.
