We’re creating a more connected travel industry, underpinned by sustainability and long-term investor relations.
Have you ever had a lunch meeting with a potential business partner over video conference? Or perhaps dialed in for an evening cocktail with a new client? Probably not.
While technology has connected us more than ever, in the business world, face-to-face interaction makes the difference. Simply put, business travel makes business happen and business travel agencies are at the center of building these trips.
Technology can, however, help us create better business travel experiences. With our technology, we can deliver to business travelers more choice, price transparency, and personalization. At the same time, we can give corporations better value from their travel spend. These elements help support the growth of our business travel agency customers.
And we are evolving to do this even better by becoming a Live Travel Space where all players can connect and collaborate to address the desires of travelers. Our technology, underpinned by the Amadeus Travel Platform , gives business travel agencies access to more content than anywhere else. Our people provide consultancy and expertise based on global travel trends and local market knowledge. The combined power of our technology and our people helps business travel agencies improve productivity and differentiate the service they provide to their customers.
Technology that enables business travel agencies to provide value and excellent service
Our open systems allow business travel agencies to deliver an end-to-end travel process – from proposal to booking to expense management – leading to improved ROI, efficiencies and cost savings. We’re freed from legacy mainframe systems and now with the latest technology we can approach things differently. Take NDC for example. Leading business travel agencies including Flight Center, Carlson Wagonlit, American Express Global Business Travel and BCD Travel, have joined our NDC-X program to test the new NDC flow of ‘shop, order, pay’ so when our NDC-enabled solutions are industrialized in 2019, they can be ready to consume new content. This level of agility means we can equip business travel agencies with what they need to support corporations and business travelers with excellence.
Unrivaled content delivered the way travelers want
We connect them to hundreds of thousands of suppliers and travel agencies across the vast world of air, hotel, rail, cruise, cars and insurance content. In North America alone, we represent 67 airlines offering ancillary services and 43 offering fare families. Globally, we represent 450 airlines with highest access level to last seat availability.
By providing access to all types of travel content and rates, Amadeus enables business travel agencies to maximize and diversify revenue streams. Nearly two-thirds of travelers who book air also need accommodations. We offer over 3.1 million shopping options from over 740,000 unique properties sourced directly or through partners, making Amadeus one of the biggest repositories of bookable hotels globally. As a result, business travel agencies can exercise greater control over how travelers interact with their content, optimizing the offers they display for increased sales conversion and retention.
But it’s not only about the content. It’s the way it’s delivered. Easy to use tools with real-time information enables travelers to focus on their business rather than become encumbered with changes due to flight disruptions or expense receipt reconciliation.
So what’s next?
We’re continually listening to travelers, business travel agencies, and all other customers we work with, whilst keeping a close eye on trends and behaviors, so we can develop technologies that benefit all. We are now more than a GDS. We’re a Live Travel Space – an open, dynamic, and connected space where all industry players can join and collaborate to deliver memorable journeys.
This is part of our Live Travel Space series, where we’ll talk in detail about all the changes we’re making to bring us closer than ever to our customers, and become more open, dynamic, and connected by evolving from a Global Distribution System (GDS) to a Live Travel Space.
