Amadeus Corporate Travel event reveals top 3 priorities for travel managers in Asia Pacific

Without a doubt, corporate travel in Asia Pacific is on the rise. Booming economies, new business traveller demographics (such as the small business and female business traveller) as well as the reducing of visa restrictions all contribute to this growth.

But, this growth means increasing demands on travel managers! How can they efficiently service their corporate traveller customers and remain competitive?

Yesterday we held the first ever Asia Pacific Corporate Travel Network event in Singapore, together with BCD travel and sponsored by SAP. 40 corporate travel managers gathered to discuss the top ways to remain competitive.

Three key trends emerged from the discussion:

  • Duty of care was at the top, with managers expressing a need for integrated duty of care and reporting tools to help them keep track and ensure the health, safety and welfare of their travellers.
  • Retaining a travel consultant was also high on the list. A recent Amadeus study found that 50% of travellers believed travel managers were crucial to help them with travel alterations when needed. Therefore retaining skilled travel consultants helps improve service quality and efficiency for the end-traveller.
  • Finally, attendees collectively agreed that having a ‘one stop shop’ was also crucial. With the tech-savvy end user in mind, travel management companies are progressively adopting user-generated content and big data to customise and personalise the travel experience through a single entry point.
